Risk Factors for Adenoid Hypertrophy in Patients Twelve Year and Older

Background: The adenoids are part of Waldeyer’s ring lymphoid tissue and when hypertrophied they cause many symptoms, e.g., snoring. They hypertrophy physiologically in children between the ages 6 10 years, then atrophy by age 16 years.
 Objectives: aim this study was to reveal risk factors clinical patterns associated with adenoid patients aged over 12 Methods: We studied 130 who had undergone an adenoidectomy January 2016 2021. Patients were evaluated Department Otorhinolaryngology Head Neck Surgery at Jordan University Hospital, Amman, Jordan. Some accessed using medical records their data collected telephone.
 Results: Of patients, 81 male 49 female, a mean 19.68 years. Snoring most common presenting symptom (81.5%), followed nasal obstruction (75.4%) mouth breathing (71.5%). factor septal deviation (44.6%), passive smoking (40.8 %), allergic rhinitis (38.5%), pollution (38.5%).
